The trucker strike situation in Pakistan continues to be a concern.  The Sindh High Court on Saturday held a hearing regarding the heavy traffic case in which they upheld their ban on entry of heavy laden containers in the port city.  The court has requested a special committee representing all stakeholders to bring recommendations on May 20th, 2017.

Meanwhile, terminals are extremely congested and close to full capacity, and loose cargo is piling up inside port warehouses.   Many vessels are standing by in off-port locations or diverting to other ports as they were refused berths due to the congestions.  It’s estimated that 7,000 loaded export containers which will miss their shipping schedules.  Officials estimate it may take at least two to three months to recover.

We are keeping a close eye on this situation and will update as soon as further information is received.
